Snoqualmie, Washington – Zetec Inc. introduced the NDT Sweeper, a manual 2D encoded scanner for ultrasonic inspections in aerospace and other applications.
NDT Sweeper has two integrated encoders for precise 2D scanning. It can support up to two phased array probes at the same time for pitch-catch ultrasonic inspections, and the individual probe suspension can be fixed axially or laterally to meet specific needs. Easy to deploy and able to encode in raster scan across long distances, NDT Sweeper excels in providing C-Scan mapping of large components.
NDT Sweeper features non-marring wheels with integrated magnets that make it effective and safe to use on many types of materials, including composites and steel. The wheels are optimized for easy movement in the scan and index direction.
With a compact, lightweight, and ergonomic design, NDT Sweeper can cover hard-to-reach areas. It’s perfectly suited to ultrasonic inspections ranging from long-seam welds to corrosion mapping and other demanding nondestructive testing (NDT) applications.
“Thanks to its innovative design, NDT Sweeper can replace multiple specialized scanners, lowering costs and reducing the amount of equipment needed to carry out a variety of different inspections,” said Dominic Giguère, Portable UT Product Manager for Zetec. “Deployed with a TOPAZ portable ultrasonic instrument and UltraVision software, it’s a complete, cost-effective solution that gives the inspector full confidence that the entire area under test has been sufficiently covered.”
