Monaghan Tooling Group introduces MK Tools’ Speed Drill S2 and S4 series of solid carbide drills in standard sizes from 3 to 20mm. All models feature 2-flute geometry with 30° helix angle for superior chip evacuation, and 140° point geometry for precision hole making in materials such as carbon steel, cast iron, grey cast iron, alloys, and other ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The S2 is well suited for general purpose applications, in sizes from 3xD or 5xD with coolant through or non-coolant fed designs. With 4 guide lands, the S4 holds sizing better for increased performance, and higher quality hole-making. S4 models are available in 5xD and 8xD sizes with coolant through only. Both the S2 and S4 series are manufactured from premium carbide feedstock with the latest generation of CNC grinding machines. A straight main cutting edge and special slot form produce unparalleled cost/performance ratios yielding low costs per piece. With original OEM regrinding, including coatings, they continue to deliver new drill performance and a low cost-per-piece throughout their long service life. MK Tools Speed Drills from Monaghan Tooling Group are available with industry-leading lead times. Ideal for high-volume production runs to one-off machine shop projects, the S2 and S4 Speed Drills are well suited for applications where precision and repeatability are required such as connecting rods, injection pumps, wheel carriers, guide wheel shafts, and more.
All MK Tools standard drills feature proprietary GTX coating, a multilayer aluminum chromium nitride coating that reduces reaming resistance for longer tool life and better chip evacuation. This and other advanced coating options for optimum performance, for new tools and regrinds, are performed in-house to reduce lead times.
With decades of experience in thousands of applications worldwide, MK Tools offers proven solid carbide tooling in standard designs. All manufacturing data is recorded for quality assurance. In addition to the S2 and S4 models described, MK Tools manufactures a full lineup of standard sized solid carbide tooling for varied materials.
