The LS-Smart is a noncontact, laser-based system that measures runout and diameter size of surgical and medical cutting tools. It accommodates long, thin components, and a double-V-block system lets users choose two measuring points without the use of collets or clamps.
For some medical drills, the system measures them inverted by supporting tool cutting ends in the V-blocks to determine shank concentricity. In addition, the system works as a laser micrometer in manual mode.
