Gear mesh adjustment app

Güdel NGHP planetary gearboxes use a unique interface, together with a web application, to guarantee simple, precise, and error-free gear mesh adjustment for rack-and-pinion drive trains. With Güdel’s GAdjuster, setup and adjustment for the gearbox is fully defined for precise and repeatable results.

Traditional methods for setting up small gearboxes usually involve manually pushing the pinion against the rack, before the screws on the flange-plate are tightened. In applications with larger gearboxes, the pinion is adjusted to a backlash-free condition against the rack, usually with the aid of an adjustment screw. Both methods depend heavily on the skill level of the fitter, and the set-up procedure can be very time-consuming. Also, these procedures offer no qualified method of checking the backlash between pinion and rack, and detecting unwanted preload is impossible.

By comparison, GAdjustment is a defined process for the setup stage and a final confirmation check. An easy to follow web-based application – GAdjuster – is used to establish fast and error-free gear mesh adjustment.

Güdel’s solution for precise gear mesh adjustment uses an integrated eccentric output flange on NGHP planetary gearboxes. Combined with the GAdjuster app, engineers have a detailed step-by-step process for setting the gear mesh between rack and pinion. More than 20 years’ experience in drive train technology allows Güdel to provide recommended settings based on the customer’s individual configuration. By scanning the QR code on the gearbox, these linear backlash settings are shown on the app and can be configured by using the easy-to-follow step-by-step process.

The GAdjuster process means optimum gear mesh settings can always be easily and accurately reproduced following any maintenance. The eccentric output flange on the Güdel’s NGHP planetary gearboxes also allows the drive to be easily disengaged if required.
