Fracture Splitting
A machine element breaks and its life ends. The breaking of a component by a fracture is damaging to the part and results in a catastrophic failure. For many decades, engineers have worked on eliminating fractures and avoiding failures. However, by controlling the cracking of components, the new production process of fracture splitting was developed.
During the controlled cracking process, the fractured surface created ensures a joint of utmost precision. Precondition is a defined cracking point and minimum component deformation, which requires extensive development. Split-forged steel con rods and bearing caps can now be cracked.
