STG Aerospace secures STC for Boeing 737NG

liTeMood LED cabin lighting installation approved for use on 737-800.

Miami, Florida – STG Aerospace, a supplier of aircraft lighting technologies, has secured a Federal Aviation Administration Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) for its liTeMood LED cabin lighting system on the Boeing 737NG.

This important milestone forms part of the company’s strategic plan to certify liTeMood for global coverage and was achieved following selection by Miami Air International to retrofit liTeMood on its 737-800 aircraft, after evaluation of all available LED systems in the market. As a premier charter flight operator, Miami Air serves clientele ranging from the military to high profile sports teams.

liTeMood is a plug-and-play, programmable, LED cabin lighting system that enables airlines to bring the lighting quality of non-LED equipped aircraft cabins up to a standard comparable with the very latest new aircraft. Incorporating the latest research into the effects of ambient lighting, liTeMood enables airlines to enhance the passenger experience, achieve impactful brand differentiation, and improve their operational metrics.

liTeMood also offers increased reliability over traditional lighting systems, reducing ongoing maintenance costs and delivering important environmental benefits. Not only is liTeMood up to 40kg lighter than original-fit fluorescent lighting, it also consumes 70% less power, increasing both the aircraft’s fuel and electrical efficiency.

Marcus Williams, STG Aerospace’s director of global sales, commented: “This is major step forward for STG Aerospace. While liTeMood has been successfully installed on many airlines in Europe and Latin America, the Miami Air installation is our first US award and validates our installation benefits and customer value with a noteworthy U.S. operator.

Having now secured an FAA STC for the Boeing737NG, we look forward to bringing the benefits of a liTeMood solution to other airlines in the U.S. and throughout the Americas.”

Jim Proia, Miami Air International’s CEO, added: “The many operational benefits of liTeMood were immediately obvious to us, including the significant weight reduction and increased reliability, but the simplicity and speed of the installation was particularly impressive. Without having to make any aircraft-side changes, we have dramatically improved cabin appearance, creating an enhanced onboard experience for our guests.”

STG Aerospace recently opened a new facility for its U.S. operation. Located adjacent to Miami International Airport, the facility has double the manufacturing and warehousing space of its previous U.S. site and will enable the company to deliver an enhanced service to its existing U.S. customers and meet the growing demand for STG Aerospace products from across the Americas.
