Recaro Aircraft Seating (Recaro) unveiled a new streamlined design for its Final Assembly Line (FAL). The inauguration event in Schwaebisch Hall, Germany, was attended by nearly 100 suppliers, VIPs, and Recaro colleagues.
Nearly 11,000m2 (118,400ft2) of the space was renovated with >350m (1,148ft) of conveyor technology for the seats, 60% power savings through LED lighting, and an expanded canteen and coffee lounge. More than 4 million euros ($4.27 million) were invested in the project.
A part of the company’s global space2grow expansion strategy, planning for the new FAL design kicked off in 2017. The implementation took 15 months of construction time and was completed in January 2023.
“Today was a celebration of many months of hard work and dedication from my colleagues who believe in the importance of customer-centric manufacturing,” said Dr. Mark Hiller, CEO and shareholder. “Technology is a driving force in our industry and it’s important for Recaro to be a pioneer in lean production, so we can better serve our customers.”
