Mazak introduces the Integrex i-400ST, a Multi-Tasking solution that employs two turning spindles, a milling spindle and lower turret so that manufacturers can process first and second operations simultaneously or perform required sequential operations on a single workpiece.
The Integrex i-400ST, capable of full simultaneous 5-axis multi-tasking machining, falls within Mazak’s done-in-one concept as it incorporates all processes from raw material input through final machining in just one machine. As such, the Integrex i-400ST reduces production lead times, improves machining accuracy, and lowers operating expenses.
The machine’s main horizontal turning spindle with a 12” chuck is capable of C-axis indexing in 0.0001-degree increments. The main turning spindle is a 40hp (30 kW) integral spindle motor that provides a 3,300rpm maximum spindle speed, while the second, opposed headstock with a 10” chuck features a 35hp (26 kW) integral spindle motor and 4,000rpm top speed.
Additionally, a 30hp (22 kW), 12,000rpm integral motor milling spindle rotates in the B-axis throughout a range of +210 and –30° from vertical. The milling spindle also travels a generous 9.84” (250mm) in the Y-axis. For increased versatility, the Integrex i-400ST accommodates workpieces up to 25.9” (658mm) in diameter and 59.8” (1,519mm) long. It is also able to meet the machining requirements of a wide variety of workpieces thanks to its tool magazine capacities, from the standard 36 tools up to the maximum of 72 tools.
