Minneapolis – Kurt’s new DoveLock vise offers a 5-axis workholding solution for aggressive machining operations. It provides up to 4,000 lb of clamping force, holding parts without distorting the workpiece, while providing access to 5 surfaces of the workpiece.
Designed and built from pre-hardened 4140 steel, the DoveLock vise has Kurt’s workholding rigidity. When under high machining pressure, deflection and clamp creep is minimized by the DoveLock design. Three features make this possible: the clamping screw is located at the top of the clamping envelope, the moveable jaw slide is retained within the stationary jaw, and machined dove tail jaws for added grip.
For fast positioning in the vise jaws, the vise features a 1/2" movable jaw stroke. This allows precise raw stock clamping with less material preparation. Another feature is an embedded locating pin that maintains part location accuracy when applying side load pressure.
To elevate parts further off the machine table, an optional riser base is available. The riser provides 1.250" inches of additional elevation and can be stacked in multiples to achieve the desired height.
