Chicago – Make plans to attend the IMTS 2014 Conferences to learn about 3D CAD Data Exchange Spinning Your Wheels.
DATE: Wednesday, September 10 from 11:00 AM - 11:55 AM ROOM: W-192C
SPEAKER: Todd Reade, President and Founder, TransMagic, Inc.
3D design software has changed our lives for the better with amazing new products that were unimagined 10-20 years ago. 3D design has virtually changed 90% of manufacturing processes. However, there are still significant gaps in this new 3D software paradigm leaving room for another quantum leap in efficiency gains. Learn new methods and strategies for working with any 3D CAD file that will catapult your productivity and the quality of your 3D data to new heights. Know how to leverage tools that ensure you have high quality reusable 3D geometry.
In 1999, the National Institute of Standards (NIST) reported that “the inability of data generated by computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing software programs to effectively interoperate costs the U.S. automotive industry at least $1 billion a year… Solving the data interchange problem would save the U.S. billions of dollars and improve the country's competitiveness.” In a new study in 2009, NIST upgraded that cost estimate to $15.8 Billion per year.
Other manufacturing industries have the same challenges that are magnified throughout the supply chain. It’s a huge problem!
One can look to the CAD software industry as the root cause, but that won’t help you get the job done. Using best practices for 3D data exchange is the best defense against these painful problems. Knowing how to work with different file formats and how to quickly repair damaged files, for your application, can reduce wasted time and get the job done right the first time.
See examples of the most common CAD data problems and solutions to resolve these issues. Learn the best practices for moving 3D design data between disparate applications and avoiding file corruption or loss of data quality. Prevent issues that cause time consuming project delays that extend delivery dates and increase costs. Overcome these issues and dramatically increase process efficiency in all phases of design to product delivery.
This presentation will include tips to optimize output from CAD systems. Knowing the strengths and weaknesses of various software applications will provide valuable insights that could also save you hundreds of hours of manual rework or re-mastering.
All attendees will receive a free copy of Mr. Reade’s Guide to Best Practices for CAD Data Exchange.
The educational and informative conferences run Sept. 8-11, 2014 in the West Building, Level 1. To register for this or any session, visit www.imts.com/education/imtsconference.html.
