Hughes-Treitler awarded V-22 Osprey parts contract

$9 million contract is for nacelle oil cooler assembly retrofit.

Garden City, New York – Hughes-Treitler, a division of AMETEK Aerospace and Defense, has been awarded a $9 million contract to support of the V-22 Osprey helicopter. Hughes-Treitler provides the nacelle oil cooler assemblies for the V-22. These plate-fin heat exchangers cool primary and secondary gearbox oils, as well as hydraulic oils for the Osprey's unique tilt-rotor design.

The contract award is in the form of a retrofit program for the nacelle cooler assemblies, previously provided by another heat exchanger supplier. Hughes-Treitler was able to exceed the thermal performance requirements of the incumbent design, while achieving a 14 lb overall weight savings. These benefits directly enhance the capabilities of the V-22 in support of the warfighter.

“The V-22 Osprey is an important asset to our armed forces and I am pleased that AMETEK Hughes-Treitler has been able to contribute key components to this program. Military contracts are extremely competitive and this award underscores the quality work being done at AMETEK Hughes-Treitler,” commented US Congresswoman Carolyn McCarthy, who supported Hughes-Treitler in gaining the contract award.

“AMETEK is proud to be selected for this program. This contract provides us with an excellent opportunity to demonstrate the outstanding performance capabilities of our products. It also represents a significant addition to our portfolio of thermal management projects,” noted Bob Vogel, vice president and general manager of thermal management systems for AMETEK.
