Flextronics manufactures avionics cabinets for Aviage Systems

Products will support commercial aircraft programs in China.

Suzhou, China – Flextronics has been selected by Aviage Systems to manufacture integrated modular avionics (IMA) cabinet units to support commercial aircraft programs in China. Aviage Systems is a joint venture between General Electric Co. (GE) and Aviation Industry Corp. of China (AVIC), a provider of avionics systems and Tier 1 supplier to China's COMAC C919 commercial aircraft.

Flextronics is providing supply chain solutions to Aviage Systems from its facility in Suzhou, China. The facility, which is AS9100C aerospace-certified, is equipped with a world-class lab and offers failure analysis, product qualification, test, and manufacturing design solutions for the aerospace industry.

The IMA Cabinet is a key subassembly that forms the core avionics system of an aircraft, interconnecting flight controls with the plane's other subsystems. This complex product requires a vast range of components such as a high precision card cage, multiple backplanes, and large cable assemblies.

"We are very pleased to partner with Aviage Systems and contribute to this prestigious project," said Dan Ostrosky, senior vice president of aerospace and defense at Flextronics.

Flextronics generated $26 billion in sales from helping customers design, build, ship, and service their products through a network of facilities in 30 countries and across four continents.
