Embraer Finalizes Sale of 50 E-Jets E2

International Lease Finance Is Buyer for $2.85 billion

The International Lease Finance Corp. (ILFC), a subsidiary of American International Group Inc. (AIG),  has finalized a firm order with Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer for 25 E190-E2s and 25 E195-E2s jetliners, estimated to be valued at $2.85 billion based on the current list prices.

The development follows a letter of intent (LOI) signed at the Paris Air Show in June when Embraer unveiled the E-Jets E2 aircraft.

The deal also includes options for an additional 25 E190-E2s and 25 E195-E2s, which brings the order to up to 100 aircraft.

"This order for the E-Jets E2 aircraft is in line with our current fleet strategy, which aims to provide our customers with a diverse mix of aircraft for their market-specific needs," says ILFC Chief Executive Henri Courpron in a statement.

"We see opportunities to place this new jet within ILFC's current customer base in all of our worldwide markets. We will also leverage access to the existing operators of the current version of Embraer to offer them the new E2," adds Mr. Courpron.

Embraer officials note that the E-Jets E2s represent its commitment to continue to invest in 70 to 130-seat commercial aircraft segment.

The three new airplanes, E175-E2, E190-E2, and E195-E2, are designated as 'E2', highlighting the generational changes in technologies that have been incorporated in the design.

These aircraft have the versatility for a range of single class, multi-class, or high-density seat capacities to meet the requirements of the operator and feature cabins that offer an even greater standard of comfort and a superior passenger experience, according to Embraer.

The state-of-the-art engines combined with new aerodynamically advanced wings, fly-by-wire flight controls and advancements in other systems will allow double-digit improvements in fuel burn, maintenance costs, emissions, and external noise, according to company statements.

The first E-Jets E2 aircraft, the E190-E2, is scheduled to be delivered in the first half of 2018, the E195-E2 is slated to enter into service in 2019, and the E175-E2 in 2020.
