Embraer’s Praetor 500 midsize business jet has been granted its European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) type certificates. The Praetor 500 received regulatory approval from Brazil’s Civil Aviation Authority (Agência Nacional de Aviação Civil – ANAC) in August, less than a year after having been announced in October 2018 at NBAA-BACE.
Embraer’s Praetor 600 super-midsize business jet was granted its type certificates by all three agencies in April and May 2019.
The Praetor 500 surpassed its certification goals achieving an intercontinental range of 3,340nm (6,186km) – NBAA IFR Reserves with four passengers, a high-speed cruise of 466KTAS, a full-fuel payload of 1,600 lb (726kg), a takeoff distance of 4,222ft (1,287m) and an unfactored landing distance of 2,086ft (636m). For a 1,000nm mission, the take-off distance is 2,842ft (867m).
The Praetor 500 offers Ka-band internet connectivity, full fly-by-wire, Embraer DNA interior design, and turbulence reduction for smooth and efficient flight.
The Praetor 500 can make nonstop flights from Miami to Seattle, Los Angeles to New York, New York to London, London to Dubai, or Jakarta to Tokyo.
The Embraer DNA Design interior features a 6ft-tall, flat-floor cabin, stone flooring and a vacuum service lavatory. The class-exclusive Turbulence Reduction technology and 5,800ft cabin altitude is complemented by the capacity to seat up to 9 passengers with the optional 2-place divan. Of the 6 fully reclining seats, 4 may be berthed into 2 beds. The baggage compartment is complemented by a wardrobe and a full vanity in the rear private lavatory.
The Upper Tech Panel displays flight information and offers cabin management features also available on personal devices through Honeywell Ovation Select. High-capacity, ultra-high-speed connectivity for all aboard is available through Viasat’s Ka-band, with speeds of up to 16Mbps and unlimited IPTV streaming.
The Collins Aerospace Pro Line Fusion flight deck options include vertical weather display, ADSB-IN, predictive wind shear radar capability, the Embraer Enhanced Vision System (E2VS) with a head-up display (HUD), an inertial reference system (IRS), and a synthetic vision guidance system (SVGS).
