Cessna Aircraft, a Textron company, has started deliveries of the first production units of the single engine Cessna TTx aircraft following a ceremony at its facility in Independence, Kan.
The TTx is the world's fastest commercially produced and certified fixed-gear single engine aircraft, according to Cessna.
Featuring advanced technologies, TTx incorporates leather-wrapped side-stick control and additional horsepower that provide speed and performance similar to that of a jet.
The all-composite aircraft has a top speed of 235k, an operating ceiling of 25,000ft and an optional flight into known icing (FIKI) system, which allows pilots to record flight plans allowing for varying weather conditions.
In addition, it is the first aircraft to be equipped with the Garmin G2000 avionics system, which features a glass cockpit with dual 14.1" high-definition displays and touchscreen controls.
Cessna Ttx business lead Brian Steele says: "The G2000 avionics are so advanced and at the same time familiar. The interior appointments add a refined touch of class to the overall TTx experience."
The production of the TTx was announced in April 2012 at the Sun 'n Fun International Fly-In and Expo event in Lakeland, Fla.
Cessna single engine/propeller aircraft senior vice-president Jodi Noah says: "The teams involved in delivering the TTx to the marketplace have placed quality and performance as top priorities, and they delivered."
Established in 1927, Cessna is a general aviation company and has to date designed, produced and delivered approximately 200,000 airplanes worldwide.
