DMG / Mori Seiki USA  has announced that the company will exhibit a full range of Mori Seiki and DMG machines in booth S-8900 at the International Manufacturing Technology Show (IMTS), which runs from September 13-18 at McCormick Place in Chicago. The DMG / Mori Seiki USA exhibit will showcase 38 machines in an impressive 30,000 square feet.

The massive space will be organized into seven technology centers including: Automatic and Universal Lathes, Turn Mill machines, Five-Axis Machining Centers, Horizontal & Vertical Machining Centers, Dura eco machines and Advanced Technology (ULTRASONIC & LASERTEC) solutions. Visitors to the exhibit can expect to see a collaborative commitment to process integration and automation, as well as solutions to reduce labor and simplify the process of manufacturing complex parts.

The alliance between DMG and Mori Seiki has significantly increased the range of products available with single-source service and support. Ten newly developed models will be shown for the first time at IMTS 2010, including Mori Seiki NHX4000, NLX2500/700 and NVX5000 machines. DMG highlights will include the ULTRASONIC 10, a broad selection of automatic lathes, the DMF 260 linear traveling column machine and the DMU 50 eco machine.

IMTS visitors will see the diversity of the enhanced Turn Mill portfolio in the exhibition of the new Mori Seiki NT1000SZM, as well as the DMG CTX gamma 2000 TC. The most compact of the NT Series, the Mori Seiki NT1000SZM brings a smaller footprint and price to Turn Mill, while the CTX gamma 2000 TC has longer bed length, high torque spindles and the latest SIEMENS control for a new level of productivity and machining flexibility.

The exhibit will also feature a full line-up of 5-axis machining centers, from the compact NMV1500 DCG (9.8 in. diameter workspace) to the huge DMU 210 P duoBLOCK, accommodating large gears or aircraft components up to 8 tons. The DMC125 FD duoBLOCK will also be on display, offering maximum productivity machining with 5-axis simultaneous milling and turning in one set up. Introduction of the new NLX2500/700 demonstrates the continuous improvement of Mori Seiki’s established lathe series at an unprecedented value. The new DMF 260 linear column machining center will also be demonstrated, featuring longer traverse paths in the Y and Z axis, as well as an optional linear drive in the X axis or a table variation (with integrated NC indexing table for an additional C axis).

The Advanced Technologies will also be represented with 2 innovative machining solutions: the compact 5-axis precision machine, ULTRASONIC 10, for the creation of dental prostheses in all materials (from CrCo toTitanium till sintered ceramics) and the LASERTEC 40 for lasering of filigree cavities, engravings or surface
structures.

Technical and education presentations will be available in a central FORUM. Attendees can enjoy a multimedia experience and learn about DMG and Mori Seiki innovations, original technologies, interactive online  training, software solutions and more.

All entries from the third biennial Innovation of the Americas cutting contest will be displayed at IMTS 2010. Submissions will be judged in four categories: aerospace, automotive, die mold, general, tool and toy. The winners of the contest will be announced the evening of Thursday, September 16 at an invitationonly gala for all contest participants.

Both Dr. Masahiko Mori and Dr. Rüdiger Kapitza will be in attendance for a joint press conference on Tuesday, September 14 where they will discuss the most recent information on the collaboration between DMG and Mori Seiki and the outlook for the upcoming year.
