Okuma America Corporation has announced that the “THINC Developers Group,” a provider of developer and end-user feedback to Okuma to aid in the continuous improvement of THINC technologies, has joined Partners in THINC.
The THINC Developers Group is a think tank focused on de facto computer architectures in the machine tool environment. The group provides a community for generating ideas, collaboration, promotion, and support of THINC related technologies for its members. “As experts in THINC related technologies, we aid in the continuous improvement of THINC-OSP technologies and develop applications to help manufacturers improve productivity through the use of the THINC control”, states group vice president, Rob Caron. The organization meets face-to-face at least three times a year and holds interim online meetings throughout the year.
The group currently has two applications that are available for free download from the Okuma website .
• Variable Picture Application – automatically display a picture (.jpg) on the control screen by setting a variable in the part program, providing helpful images while the part program is running
Other applications are currently in development and will be available as completed.
The THINC Developers Group is open to active developers of THINC technologies on an invitation-only basis. The group facilitates THINC user education through web-based events and user conferences which are open to all interested parties.
