PICCO Index is one of Iscar’s latest offerings in the PICCO boring bar family. PICCO Index boring bars are available in steel and solid carbide and are specifically engineered for securely clamping compact indexable ISO inserts to optimize internal machining of small parts.
1. What are the advantages of PICCO Index?
PICCO Index is the smallest indexable boring bar offered in the market today. PICCO Index is available carrying CCMT/CCGT inserts for boring applications with 0.177" minimum bore diameter, WBMT/WBGT 06 inserts for boring applications with 0.256" minimum bore diameter, and 06 IR/IL inserts for threading applications with 0.288" minimum bore diameter. All PICCO Index boring bars have internal coolant directed to the cutting zone. PICCO Index is suitable for rough, semi-finishing, and finishing operations of small parts. They provide excellent chip control even under low cutting conditions and are a very economical solution compared to traditional solid carbide boring bars.
2. What insert options are available for PICCO Index?
Iscar’s insert offerings for PICCO Index include CCGT in carbide with a positive flank and corner nose radii of 0.004", 0.008", and 0.016". CCMT/CCGT/CCGW inserts are offered in multiple CBN grades with corner radii of 0.004" and 0.008" for finishing operations on hardened ISO H materials. WBMT inserts are offered in carbide and coated or uncoated cermet for finishing operations. WMGT inserts are offered in various Iscar carbide grades with nose radii of 0.004" and 0.008". Most inserts are stocked at our North American headquarters in Arlington, Texas.
3. What type of tool holders are available for PICCO Index?
The new PICCO Index boring bars can utilize Iscar’s proven PICCO / MG PCO (PASSCUT), PICCO ACE (ACECUT) holders for exceptional clamping and repeatability of the cutting-edge center height. All holders are available with JETCUT coolant thru the tool.
4. Is there anything else we should add about PICCO Index?
PICCO Index is one of Iscar’s latest offerings in the PICCO line of tools. The PICCO line is a proven winner in small hole boring. But, did you know PICCO also shines in face grooving applications as well as multi-function tools? PICCO’s multi-function tools can drill, chamfer, face turn, O.D. turn/profile, I.D. turn/profile, and thread all with the same tool. Iscar also offers solid carbide and indexable drills that fit into the PICCO line of holders. Last, but certainly not least is PICCO 3 CUT, a 3-edged solid carbide boring bar that reduces the cost per edge.
