The MEFF chipbreaker offers versatility in various applications in Swiss machining, including O.D. turning, back turning, chamfering, tapering, and profiling. While ideal for small-parts machining, the chipbreaker can also be used in similar fine finishing applications with <0.020" depth of cut and feedrate <0.002ipr. With multiple ridges, a wavy cutting edge, and high rake, the chipbreaker offers chip control and lower cutting force while maintaining good surface finish in different depths of cuts.
The chipbreaker is available in Sumitomo Grades AC5015S (first choice for HRSA, titanium alloy, hardened steel, and bearing steel), AC5025S (tough grade for interrupted cutting of HRSA), and AC1030U (first choice for steel and stainless steel). Test results indicate improved wear resistance and surface finish in materials steel, stainless steel, and Inconel.

Compact 5-axis vertical machining center
The DVF 4000 compact 5-axis vertical machining center (VMC) manages diverse 5-sided or simultaneous 5-axis applications.
Each DVF Series machine’s oil-cooled spindle controls heat to minimize thermal issues. Z-axis thermal compensation collects real-time data from six sensors throughout the machine to automatically calculate compensation.
The DVF also incorporates roller LM guideways for speed and added rigidity. The machines are equipped with linear scales on the X-, Y-, and Z-axis and rotary scales on the B- and C-axis for accurate positioning and repeatability.
A compact footprint enables installation in smaller shops where floor space is limited.

Metal rotary scale discs
CENTRUM CSF40 stainless steel encoder scale discs include alignment flexures that automatically center the scale when pushed onto a shaft, improving performance – no additional gages or setup devices are required. The resilient, easy-to-clean stainless-steel discs combine with the ATOM DX read head to provide a compact encoder system.
With 40µm pitch incremental graduations, the discs come in sizes from 38.4mm to 120mm external diameters, with custom disc sizes available.
