Thin, chemical resistant disposable glove

Protection solutions company Ansell is introducing the Microflex 93-260 single-use glove that offers the dexterity and tactility of a thin, disposable glove with the protection against a broad range of chemicals that typically requires thicker, sturdier designs.

The glove provides higher levels of chemical protection for longer periods of time through a three-layer design. The exterior nitrile layer protects against organic solvents, while the neoprene middle layer provides acid and base resistance. An interior layer provides a continual dry feel, while also easing donning and doffing. The 7.8mils-thick glove provides enhanced tactility and dexterity for easy handling of small parts and tools.

As a thin, comfortable hand protection that effectively resists chemicals – including common hydraulic fluids used in the aerospace industry – workers are more likely to wear the glove, ensuring greater levels of compliance with safety programs.

Lufthansa Technik, MTU Aero Engines explore joint venture

To provide maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) services for the Pratt & Whitney PW1000G family of geared turbofan (GTF) engines, Lufthansa Technik and MTU Aero Engines have agreed to explore the possibility of establishing an MRO joint venture at a globally competitive location. First decisions are expected by the end of 2016.

Since 2003, the two companies have been partners in a 50/50 venture in Malaysia for the repair of low-pressure turbine and high-pressure compressor airfoils.

In July, Lufthansa Technik became a member of the aftersales service network offering a range of MRO services for PW1000G engines. Lufthansa was the first airline to put a GTF-powered jet into commercial service, positioning Lufthansa Technik as an MRO services provider for other GTF engine operators.

Five aircraft manufacturers have selected PW1000G engines for new aircraft programs. To date, airlines have ordered about 8,200 of the engines globally. FAA approves merger to create Infinity Aircraft Services

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has approved the recent merger of Mobile Aircraft Services and B. Coleman Aviation’s MRO division, certifying the new company, Infinity Aircraft Services, as a Part 145 repair station. FAA approval assures customers that Infinity’s programs, systems, and compliance methods for the maintenance, inspection, alterations, and aircraft products have been reviewed and tested.

Infinity Aircraft Services will offer aircraft MRO and aircraft on ground (AOG) support services at the company’s 15,000ft2 hangar at Palm Beach International Airport in West Palm Beach, Florida. An expanded service reach includes DeKalb-Peachtree Airport in Atlanta, Georgia, and B. Coleman Aviation operations at Gary/ Chicago International Airport in Gary, Indiana.
