Strong demand from the aircraft makers and the turbine industry, a high order income of 146 Mio CHF in the first half of 2007, and raising backlog have prompted StarragHeckert to extend its current 450,000ft2 manufacturing space, which has been added at its Chemnitz, Germany plant. At the Rorschach, Switzerland plant, a 20,000ft2 special purpose building for high precision 5-axis machines is near completion. Both facilities will be ready by the end of 2007. The Swiss producer of ultra-precision jig borers and machining centers stated that successful market share gains in 2006/2007 with its machining centers in the aerospace industry was the main reason for the need for additional capacity.
