Curtiss-Wright Defense Solutions’ rugged data recording system supports legacy sensor systems based on the fiber channel (FC) data communications protocol, offering a bridge to connect that data to Ethernet networks. The CNS4-FC Compact Network Storage subsystem combines four-channel data recording, encryption, and removable storage in a single chassis. A modernized solution for high-speed data recording, cryptography, and removable storage, the unit supports previously qualified FC-based sensor and client system architectures, including those in military helicopters, unmanned platforms, and mobile radar systems. www.curtisswrightds.com
Gantry portal LP 100
Liebherr’s LP 100 gantry portal is designed for handling smaller and lighter components while giving engine and gearbox manufacturers more options to find optimum solutions. Gantries can be configured to deliver high speed or high-load performance. Gantry robot design has been adapted to meet modern production process requirements. Engineers plan to apply specialization options to existing gantry models in the next two years. www.liebherr.com
Industry 4.0 solutions presentation set for EMO Hannover 2017
The German Mechanical Engineering Industry Association’s (VDMA) Metrological and Testing Technology and High-Precision Tools will highlight Industry 4.0 ideas and products at the VDMA’s stand (Hall 4/D44), at EMO Hannover 2017, a trade show set for Hannover, Germany, Sept. 19-21, 2017.
“At the VDMA forum, we shall be aiming to show what solutions our sectors are offering in order to translate the concept of Industry 4.0 into shop-floor reality,” explains Markus Heseding, executive director of the two associations.
The “Innovative Solutions for Industry 4.0” event will cover intelligent clamping systems, how production processes can be simulated by networking tools and software, tool lifecycles monitored, and cost reductions. www.vdma.org
Fischer Connectors partners with SolarStratos
St. Prex, Switzerland-based Fischer Connectors Group will provide mission- critical connectivity to the solar-powered HB-SXA plane as an official partner to the SolarStratos project. This first manned solarplane to penetrate the stratosphere aims to demonstrate the potential of solar energy and explore new territories for the future of aviation.
SolarStratos HB-SXA is propelled solely by solar energy, backed by a lithium-ion battery. Fischer Connectors’ engineers are partnering with the SolarStratos team to design and deliver solutions for the mission’s success. www.fischerconnectors.com; www.solarstratos.com
