Since 1996, CRP Technology, headquartered in Modena, Italy, has been changing the rules of manufacturing. CRP was among the first to import additive manufacturing (AM) technology to Europe and develop the Windform® family of materials – some of the international market’s most high-performance laser sintering materials in use for more than 20 years in aerospace, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), and motorsports.
Windform® composite materials allow manufacturing of functional prototypes as well as finished, high- performance functional parts. Laser Sintering (LS) polyamide-based glass or carbon fiber reinforced Windform® materials satisfy the needs of the aerospace industry and its reputation for designing, high-performing, durable, and detailed parts.
The Windform® family of composite materials for LS is constantly expanding with Windform® Top Line for LS composed of eight different Windform® materials, soon to expand with Windform® FR 1, the first carbon-fiber-filled flame-retardant LS material to be V-? certified.
So much of CRP Technology’s success in aerospace is thanks to its U.S.-based partner, CRP USA. Under the guidance of Stewart Davis, CRP USA has considerable experience supplying cutting-edge solutions for key space industry leaders using the Windform® family of materials.
Recently CRP USA has celebrated the successful mission of the TuPOD small satellite. This unique CubeSat was produced using Windform® XT 2.0, designed as a CubeSat and as a dispensing system for two Tube Satellites.
The mission marked a new milestone in the small satellite arena; it’s the first time two TubeSats were deployed in space, using the specifically designed TuPOD that functions as a satellite and release platform.
The significant performance of Windform® is allowing new ways to invent and manufacture while proving to be a viable option for innovative design and high-performance features associated with advanced aerospace and aeronautics applications.
