A new face milling family features negative octagonal and square inserts, along with a variety of shell mills, and three variants of a 16-edged ONMX insert for depths of cut up to 0.157" (4mm). The standard geometries include F for light operations, M for versatile use, and R for rough cuts. Additionally, the 8-edged ONMX-W is a specific wiper insert for high-quality surface finish with large cutters and high feedrate.
Also added is a range of 8-edged SNMX inserts for higher metal removal rates. This includes an M chip breaker for medium machining and an R geometry for roughing, both for depths of cut up to 0.275" (7mm) in various materials.
All face milling inserts can be used with a new shell cutter body. The Pramet ISON06 is available in sizes 2" to 6", and the metric family SON06 is available in range 1.968" to 9.843" (50mm to 250mm).
The assortment is made of high-quality hardened tool steel, to improve durability and process security. Combined with internal coolant systems on the entire range, these tools improve chip evacuation to achieve a high surface quality.
Shrink fit tooling, machine technology
Rineck standard and custom shrink fit tool holders with various connections include CAT, HSK, BT, SK, PSC, and straight shank extensions. ER shrink fit collets are also available. For added rigidity, flange or dual contact holders are available for CAT and BT tapers. Clamping from 3mm to 32mm is possible for slim and standard styles. All tools are available in inch and metric sizes.
In addition to standard 4.5° taper tools, 3° slim and extra slim tools are available. Most holders come standard with length adjusting screws. Coolant delivery to the cutting tool can be achieved either through the center or flange of the tool holder using coolant jets or slots.
Shrink fit machines are equipped with an elevation cooling system, so heated tools can be moved to a cooling tank with the push of a button. The machine’s design keeps accessories stored but close at hand during operation.
Platinum Tooling will handle application engineering, sales, and service through a network of distributors across the U.S. and Mexico.

Knurling and marking tools
QUICK knurling and marking tools from Hommel & Keller offer solutions for diverse technology applications. For form and cut knurling, QUICK fulfills stringent quality standards and masters difficult tasks. Knurling tools are available for use on a range of workpiece diameters, including small tools for Swiss-type lathes from 1.5mm diameter.
QUICK marking tools can mark workpieces in seconds on various surfaces and part geometries. Through single marking segments, the marking text can be individually customized. Tools are available in two diameters for interchangeable lettering and custom logos. These tools offer precision and high surface quality.
CNC oscillation cutting function
The M8 Series CNC now offers Vibration Cutting Control, an oscillation cutting option allowing CNC lathes and mills to eliminate buildup of metal strands, reducing obstructions in the tool path while machining parts.
The upgraded Vibration Cutting Control (VCC) via hardware to the M8 Series CNC eliminates chip strands while machining difficult to cut material, such as stainless steel, at faster cutting speeds.
Machine tool industries experience delays and defects in processes due to long strands of metal build-up resulting in decreased production. Through use of the M8 Series CNC with VCC, the tool axis vibration breaks up the long strands of material that are expelled from the part being produced. The extra functionality speeds up processes, reduces cycle times, and provides better part finish.

3-flute solid carbide drill
The DC183 Supreme solid carbide drill has three cutting edges for improved hole roundness and high productivity. Its internal coolant channels can use emulsion, oil, or minimum quantity lubrication (MQL).
The drill is coated with Krato·tec highly wear-resistant coating to achieve high machining volume when holemaking. Its fracture-resistant aluminum titanium nitride (AlTiN) multiple-layer coating technology was developed specifically for solid carbide drilling tools. The textured top layer has a high aluminum content to provide excellent heat, wear, and oxidation resistance; the graded transition layer balances residual stresses; and the base layer prevents cracks from forming in the coating. The drill is available in two grades: WJ30EX, with AlTiN multiple-layer coating, and WJ30EY with K30F substrate and AlTiN tip coating. Standard drill diameters are 0.118" to 0.630" (3mm to 16mm).
Applications include steel, cast iron, non-ferrous materials, super alloys, and stainless-steel (ISO P, K, N, S, and M).
Tube laser
The enhanced line of tube lasers’ Active Tools technology helps machines automatically adapt process parameters for optimal results. These tools, based on the company’s decades of laser cutting experience, are designed to help produce high quality parts, repeatedly and independently of the operator’s experience level.
Active Tools include:
- Active Focus – Dynamically adjusts focal position to reduce cycle time, improve 2D/3D cutting/marking performance, quality
- Active Speed – Highest cutting quality on all material conditions
- Active Marking – Allows parts to be dynamically marked during cutting for complete product traceability
- Active Piercing – Increases piercing speed, reliability, even on inconsistent material quality, thickness
- Active Tilt – Achieves faster cutting speeds through rapid oscillation of 3D cutting head
- Active Scan – Ensures highest tolerances by removing errors due to bow, twist in tubes using a camera/laser scanning system to correct in <0.6 seconds
- Active Weld – Camera can look internally, externally to locate, position weld seam
- Active Shape – Profile recognition camera used to allow for automatic loading of custom sections such as aluminum extrusions, rolled formed shapes
Availability varies on the model, but Active Focus, Active Speed, and Active Marking are standard on all BLM laser tubes. Each feature’s designed to help the operator and keep the laser tubes producing parts as fast and effectively as possible.
