The TUDX milling head hosts interchangeable spindles, allowing machining materials from Inconel to composites on the same machine without needing to change the entire head.
The universal head offers low pivot positions, and with the bearings at 50° positioned axially to the tool in all directions, cutting forces align with the machining direction so feeds and speeds can be optimized. The head’s geometry allows it to extend beyond the machine’s travels, offering an additional 2ft of vertical working area. The 50° head also provides an additional 10° undercut angle to machine hard-to-reach surfaces otherwise requiring a separate setup.
Specialized replaceable spindles offer:
- Roughing carbon steel with a 4" face mill at 90hp and up to 650cm3/min of material removal (EMPT0855)
- Machining aluminum with a 2" face mill at 24,000rpm removing up to 2,000cm3/min (EMPT2445)
- Grinding (EMPT_GRIND)
- Turning (EMPT_TURN)
- Friction-stir-welding (EMPT_FSW)
The TUDX can be installed on FPT vertical gantry machines (Dinox, Dinomax, and Dinomek) and horizontal machines (Ronin, Castel Terus, and Verus).
Enhanced vision measurement system
The QV Vision Pro Series has several new features. The StrobeSnap vision measuring function speeds quality runtime compared to competitor machines by approximately 35% to 45% regardless of measurement position or continuity while achieving higher throughput and high-precision measurements. Autofocus on the QV Pro Series is about 39% faster than previous models without loss of measurement accuracy.
STREAM, an optional function on the QV-Apex Pro series, synchronizes camera motion with the strobe light to capture continuous non-contact measurements with high accuracy and faster speeds.
QV Apex Pro systems can be equipped with an optional touch probe to capture features on part sides without the need to rotate the part.
Mitutoyo America Corp.1kW metal AM system
The M 300-4 1kW metal additive manufacturing (AM) system boasts four 1kW lasers to meet the production requirements of aluminum (especially AlSi10Mg) and copper 3D printed applications, such as aluminum brackets, holders, antennas, heat exchangers; and copper or copper alloy heat exchangers, inductors, and e-mobility components.
Commercially available in February 2024, the M 300-4 1kW can be optimized by the Volkmann PowTrex EOS Edition powder handling system with a higher conveying and sieving rate than comparable material handling systems.
