Leadership changes at Bombardier

Web Industries names CEO; Airbus deploys Dassault Systèmes software.

Bombardier’s board of directors has appointed Danny Di Perna president, Bombardier Transportation to replace Laurent Troger, who has resigned to pursue opportunities outside the company. DiPerna joined Bombardier in 2018 and most recently led the company’s Aerostructures and Engineering Services (BAES) segment. He has more than 30 years of aerospace experience.

“Danny is an exceptional and engaging leader with a proven record of leading complex industrial organizations,” says Alain Bellemare, president and CEO, Bombardier Inc.

Succeeding DiPerna as president is Paul Sislian (left), a Bombardier veteran with more than 20 years of aerospace and industrial experience. He served most recently as COO for Bombardier Business Aircraft (BBA).

“Having had responsibility for Business Aircraft’s manufacturing and completion centers, Paul was instrumental in leading BBA’s successful operational transformation and positioning the segment for additional margin expansion,” Bellemare notes.

BAES will support the ramp-up of the Airbus A220 and Bombardier Global 7500 programs and manufacture aerostructures.

Nancy Barber is BBA’s new COO, joining David Coleal’s leadership team. Barber, who has been with Bombardier for 20 years, has experience leading complex teams in procurement, customer services, and program management. Most recently, she was vice president, program management for the Global 7500 and New Aircraft Studies.

“Nancy has played a critical role in ensuring the on-time entry-into-service of the Global 7500 aircraft and setting a strong foundation for the program’s ramp-up,” Bellemare says.

Web Industries names CEO

Marlborough, Massachusetts-based Web Industries has promoted President and COO Mark Pihl to CEO. Pihl, who joined Web Industries in 2000, succeeds outgoing CEO Donald Romine.

“2019 marks Web Industries’ 50th anniversary, and it is an honor to lead our team as we enter a new phase in the company’s development,” Pihl says. “Look for us to extend our geographic reach and increase the rate of innovation and execution in new ways.”

Web Industries recently acquired France-based Omega Systèmes Atlantique and Aquitaine, specialists in formatting advanced materials for aerospace, defense, and industrial applications.

Airbus deploys Dassault Systèmes software

Airbus officials have signed a 5-year agreement to deploy Dassault Systèmes’ 3DExperience for digital design, manufacturing, and services (DDMS) for all Airbus divisions and product lines. The software will allow Airbus engineers to co-design and develop next-generation aircraft with the manufacturing facilities that will produce them to reduce costs and time to market.

“We are rethinking the way aircraft are designed and operated, streamlining and speeding up our processes,” says Guillaume Faury, president Airbus Commercial Aircraft.
