Vancouver, Washington – Kyocera Industrial Ceramics Corp. officials recently celebrated a groundbreaking ceremony for a $10 million expansion of its manufacturing operations.
Planned for completion during this calendar year, the new construction will expand Kyocera’s existing 40,000ft2 facility by 45%, to 58,000ft2, and could create up to 30 new employment positions over the next few years. The facility currently employs 125 workers on three shifts.
Kyocera companies have manufactured in Vancouver continuously since 1986, with the current facility at 5713 N.E. Fourth Plain Boulevard active since 1992. Conceived as a research and development center for advanced ceramic materials, the facility now serves as a specialty custom-order manufacturer of high-added-value engineered ceramic components.
Kyocera’s ceramics are used in many high-performance, high-reliability applications, with key roles in the semiconductor, aerospace, automotive, medical, and renewable energy markets.
Kyocera Industrial Ceramics Corp. is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Kyocera International Inc. of San Diego, California, a holding company for Kyocera enterprises throughout North America.
