The FH550SX HMC horizontal machining center, with a matrix tool magazine, is designed to provide the cutting power of a boxway machine with 20% faster feedrates. Features include a newly designed column and high-torque spindle to speed through steel without compromising rigidity.
Work area for the FH550SX is 750mm x 800mm x 850mm (X, Y, Z). Pallet size is 550mm x 550mm, and the rotary table indexes in increments of 1° with indexing time for 90° of 2 seconds and 2.4 seconds for 180°. Pallet changing time is 9.5 seconds with the maximum load on the pallet of 1,760 lb.
The SX Series machines have a 40hp, 6,000rpm spindle. The highperformance spindle has double the driving force on the Y axis, with a ballscrew and motor on each side of the spindle. The SX Series software has automatic compensation to protect against thermal growth in the ballscrew – the integrity of the ballscrew is not compromised by internal cooling mechanisms.
Also on display will be a BM vertical machining center, designed for heavy-duty machining of ferrous materials. The BM Series, with 6,000rpm to 8,000rpm geared headstock, is ideal for heavy-duty applications in ferrous materials such as cast iron and steel. The rigid iron base is paired with four Y-axis box guideways to eliminate saddle overhang while the extra-wide column expands machining capability. Many high-torque and direct-drive spindle configurations are available in CAT 40 or CAT 50 tapers.
