GWS Tool Group, a manufacturer of custom cutting tools, has reached a U.S. licensing agreement with global tool holding technology company Haimer USA for Haimer’s patented Safe-Lock anti-pullout system.
Brendt Holden, president of Haimer USA says, “I fully believe GWS aerospace customers will welcome the security, balance, and precision of the Safe-Lock System that will ultimately ensure they can maximize their productivity.”
GWS CEO Rick McIntyre adds, “Partnering with Haimer to provide the industry standard in pullout protection, Safe-Lock, further strengthens our ability to deliver optimized milling solutions to our customers.”
DMG MORI USA opens Charlotte HQ
In a grand opening, DMG MORI USA showcased its new regional headquarters in Charlotte, North Carolina.
The approximately 1,250m2 (13,500ft2) building integrates the machine tool manufacturer’s branches in Nashville, Tennessee; Tampa, Florida; and Charlotte to create a central sales and service location for the entire Southeast and East U.S. with around 40 employees.
“With this new home base, we will be able to help our customers to attract and retain world-class manufacturing work for years to come,” says Daniel Medrea, COO East Region, DMG MORI USA Inc.
The showroom houses the NLX 2500 SY universal turning center, the NTX 2500 turn & mill center, the DMU 65 FD monoBLOCK milling & turning machine, and the CMX 50 U 5-axis machining center automated with a PH 150 pallet handling system – all connected by the DMG MORI Messenger, NETservice, and CELOS PC. Training courses on aspects of the company’s CNC technology as well as the digitization of machine tool manufacturing are available at the new location.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony included Dr. Masahiko Mori, President of the DMG MORI Co. Ltd., Dr. Keiichii Ota, President of DMG MORI USA Inc., local government officials, and more than 100 customers. It was the first in-person event DMG MORI had organized since COVID-19 closures.
Teijin joins Spirit's Aerospace Innovation Centre
Teijin Ltd. has joined the Aerospace Innovation Centre (AIC) organized by aircraft structural components manufacturer Spirit AeroSystems Inc. in Prestwick, Scotland. Teijin will work with Spirit and other AIC members.
The 85,000ft2 AIC houses Spirit’s engineering design and manufacturing expertise alongside advanced development and pre-production equipment in a collaborative environment with key partners.
Teijin plans to contribute to Spirit’s vision to enable innovative technologies and build a sustainable future. This collaboration will also strengthen Teijin’s position as a carbon fibers and composites supplier for aerospace applications.
As one strategic focus of its medium- term management plan for 2020 to 2022, Teijin is accelerating its development of midstream to downstream applications for aircraft, including cost-effective carbon fibers with higher-tenacity and higher-tensile modulus, intermediate materials, including Tenax Dry Reinforcement (Tenax DR) carbon fiber materials, carbon fiber thermoplastic unidirectional pre-impregnated tape (Tenax TPUD), carbon fiber thermoplastic consolidated laminate (Tenax TPCL), and thermoset prepreg.
