Gundrilling machine

The TechniDrill 2.00-30-48 gundrilling machine is used to manufacture airplane aileron actuation cylinders. The actuation cylinder starts as a solid bar, then the gundrilling machine drills the large primary hole in a single pass without requiring a pilot hole. Secondary processes are used to finish the cylinder.

The machine has a gundrilling diameter capacity of 2.0" (50.8mm) and a maximum gundrilling depth of 48" (1,219mm). It features a 30hp AC spindle motor and two-speed gearbox for versatile performance. The workpiece is counter-rotated during gundrilling via pneumatically operated 3-jaw chucks, increasing accuracy of the drilled hole.

Probe for high-precision gaging

The P2002 linear variable differential transformer (LVDT) style measuring probe is for high-precision gaging in applications requiring reliable, repeatable measurements.

With a shorter measuring span and higher accuracy, the P2002 probe is for dedicated gaging fixtures where measuring results from multiple probes are combined with each other, such as in assembly line manufacturing. Additionally, the P2002 probe offers a level of accuracy rivaling linear encoders, which are typically more expensive.

The probe comes with an optional pneumatic actuation feature, offering greater flexibility and ease of use in high-precision applications.

It’s compatible with all Mahr gaging amplifiers and Cockpit gaging software.

Flexible changing system

The Heimatec u-tec changing system allows a standard ER output live tool to accept various adapters for different applications. This allows users to quickly changeover tools on a lathe or mill, using a single tool, without committing to a quick-change system on initial purchase.

The u-tec system’s polygon connection design helps guarantee proper position and alignment of the adapter inside the tool. Once the insert is properly positioned and the collet nut is clamped, the cutting tool will have excellent rigidity and torque transmission.

Unique collet nuts on the u-tec system have internal threading for clamping stability, and the tool adapter system enables the cutting tool to be brought closer to the bearing.

The u-tec adapters are furnished with the necessary clamping nut and holding wrench, and are available in arbor, Weldon, ER extension, and blank style outputs. The u-tec system is available for all major turning machines.
