GE plans to invest $14 million and bring 50 salary jobs during the next two years to its new Services Technology Acceleration Center (STAC) in the Cincinnati suburb of Springdale, Ohio.

The STAC facility will be dedicated to developing engine services technologies and work processes, including automation and robotics, allowing for collaboration between engineering and manufacturing. The teams will work together to demonstrate a technology’s manufacturing readiness before scaling it for use at service shops worldwide, accelerating the entry of new repairs into the market.

The 85,000ft2 facility will also be a training center for service technologies and a GE Aerospace customer education center. https://www.geaerospace.com

Embraer gets heavy maintenance services agreements

Embraer Aircraft Maintenance Services (EAMS) in Macon, Georgia, obtained two heavy maintenance services agreements totaling $72 million. The contracts with Envoy Air Inc. and JSXwill provide each company with Embraer’s airframe maintenance and repair services.

Envoy has been an EAMS customer since 2002 and has outsourced maintenance lines to EAMS periodically since 2011, though the new contract provides one nose-to-tail heavy maintenance line. With JSX, Embraer has a new long-term agreement for two nose-to-tail heavy maintenance lines.

“Macon continues to expand, and these new lines will promote growth within the area and open job positions for qualified talent,” says Frank Stevens, vice president, global MRO centers, Embraer Services & Support.

Envoy Air Inc. provides regional flight service to American Airlines under the American Eagle brand. JSX, an independent air carrier, offers private air travel services in the U.S. and Mexico. https://www.embraer-eams.com; https://www.envoyair.comhttps://www.jsx.com

Lufthansa Technik to support New Zealand’s P-8A Poseidon fleet

Boeing awarded Lufthansa Technik a contract for sustainment services supporting the Royal New Zealand Air Force’s (RNZAF) future fleet of four P-8A aircraft.

The contract for Lufthansa Technik’s Total Component Support (TCS) program for the Boeing 737 jetliner covers more than 400 commercial common parts included in the P-8A, a military derivative of the airliner. The TCS program allows the RNZAF access to the German company’s maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) global supply chain. Leveraging the 737’s commercial market in support of P-8A international customers allows smaller fleets easier access to inventory from the more than 4,000 Boeing 737 aircraft currently operating.

The first New Zealand P-8A was delivered in December 2022, with three remaining aircraft to be delivered in 2023. https://www.boeing.com; https://www.lufthansa-technik.com
