Dublin, Ireland-based global aviation asset management and trading company EirTrade Aviation has invested in tooling to offer complete CFM56-3 aero engine teardown capabilities. The company can provide the service along with CFM56-5A, -5B, -7B, -7BE engine types at its facility in Dublin.
“We can now provide continuous line maintenance, parking, and preservation for narrowbody aircraft at Ireland West Airport in Knock though EirTrade Aviation Maintenance,” says Steven Trowell, VP technical at EirTrade, explaining this new capability rounds out the company’s focus on providing a complete disassembly solution for lessors, airlines, and MROs across its two facilities in Ireland. “We also have the capability to disassemble wide and narrowbody airframes and CFM engines at the asset owner’s request, simplifying logistics and making it much easier for ferry flights from Europe/Africa/Middle East.”
From an engine teardown market perspective, Trowell observes more CFM56-3 engines will be coming up for disassembly throughout the coming years as many of the freight B737 Classics using them are retired and replaced with B737NG Boeing Commercial Freighters (BCFs). “We’ve invested to prepare our facility to provide a seamless service as the requirement for used serviceable materials (USM) ramps up and engine feedstock becomes available. However, there’s currently a shortage of material for these engines as freight and passenger operators continue to extend the usable life of these reliable engines and this is driving up the price of some of these USM components.” https://eirtradeaviation.com
Embraer, Rex Group extend spares pool program
Rex Group member, National Jet Express (NJE), has extended its contract with Embraer for the pool program to support its six Embraer E-190 jets. NJE had been receiving Embraer’s support for a wide range of repairable components since 2014.
Embraer’s pool program supports more than 60 airlines worldwide.
“We’re very pleased to extend our partnership with National Jet Express and the Rex Group,” says Johann Bordais, president and CEO, Embraer Services & Support. “There are several advantages for the airlines being supported by the pool program.”
Embraer’s pool program lets airlines minimize upfront investment in high-value repairable inventories and resources while taking advantage of Embraer’s technical expertise along with its vast component repair service provider network. The results allow savings on repair and inventory carrying costs, reduction in required warehousing space, and near-elimination of the need for repair management resources, while providing guaranteed performance levels.
Rex Executive Chairman Lim Kim Hai says, “The support we’ve received from Embraer throughout the last nine years has been exemplary, and I want to commend them for their customer-mindedness.”
Rex is Australia’s largest independent regional and domestic airline and a 50% shareholder of NJE, a fly-in-fly-out (FIFO) service, charter, and freight operator. https://embraer.com; https://www.rex.com.au/corporate
