Parry Labs LLC has flown its Edge Compute Micro (EC Micro) with Stratia modular open system architecture (MOSA) software on the Griffon Aerospace Valiant vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) unmanned aerial system (UAS).
EC Micro, a ruggedized computing device combining processing and precision timekeeping from Stratia, can provide previously unavailable processing power at the edge in Group 2, 3, and 4 UAS. It allows integrating enhanced payload capabilities, advanced artificial intelligence (AI) applications, resilient communication, and dynamic networking on the ground and in the air, enhancing digital capability in smaller UAS.
The EC Micro significantly reduces size and weight from Parry Lab’s previous fielded systems, while still providing more than 200 discrete signals, an atomic-scale clock for synchronization, and advanced graphics processing units (GPUs) for AI applications.
Parry Labs CEO John Parkes says, “EC Micro and Stratia software allow platforms such as Valiant to enable the next generation of close air support, situational awareness, and fires, and provide seamless digital interoperability with other U.S. Army Aviation assets.”
