The Diamonex Products business of Morgan Advanced Ceramics (MAC) announces that the company has been approved for registration to the SAE AS9100B standard for the aerospace industry by BSI Americas Inc. AS9100B is supported and required by many of the world's leading aerospace companies, including Boeing, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, Rolls Royce Allison, General Electric Aircraft Engines and NASA. Registration to AS9100 means Diamonex's operations adhere to globally recognized aerospace quality standards.
AS9100 compliance exceeds the ISO 9001:2000 quality standard on which it's based, with 80 additional requirements and 18 amplifications to the ISO 9001:2000 standard. The standard addresses the unique, complex and highly regulated nature of the defense aerospace industry. With the AS9100 procedures in place, Diamonex is better able to serve major aerospace companies.
Additional requirements necessary to fulfill AS9100 compliance include supplementary traceability requirements, greater controls for changes to production processes and equipment, considerations for detection of contaminations or damage and defined requirements for non-conforming material control. The standard also ensures stricter supplier controls as well as stricter controls for production planning and identification of "key characteristics."
"By achieving AS9100, we have solidified our commitment to our customers that we will consistently provide them with superior products and service with an embedded responsibility towards continual improvement," says Jonathan Sands, quality manager, Diamonex Products. "This has been a great effort by the whole team at Diamonex and demonstrates our ability to provide superior controls and first class quality to our customers. Our excellent initial assessment score is a demonstration of our strong foundation and a great complement to an already robust quality system."
Rich Hobbs, the general manager for Diamonex, states, "Our recent AS9100 certification helps to further endorse and solidify our position as a leading supplier of DLC materials and technologies."
Diamonex first achieved ISO 9001:2000 in 2003 and has also maintained the international environmental standard ISO 14001:2004 since 2004. The company is a provider of high-performance materials, including CVD diamond and Diamond-Like Carbon (DLC) coatings, in the electronics, communications, data storage, optics, automotive, aerospace and medical industries. morganadvancedceramics.com
