Delta opens engine shop

Delta Airlines has opened a 127,000ft² repair shop to perform maintenance on advanced-technology engines featured on Delta’s Airbus A350s and forthcoming A330-900neo aircraft.

Delta converted large hangar bays at its TechOps facility in Atlanta, Georgia, to create a workshop with areas for engine assembly and disassembly, kitting parts, engines work-in-progress, shop materials and supplies (Kanban), a life-limited parts center of excellence, and a repair and support area. The facility distinguishes itself with a wall made of more than 2,000 pieces of glass standing seven stories tall underneath the historic Fly Delta Jets sign.

The investment benefits the airline’s maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) business as Delta will work on engines from other companies. Delta TechOps serves more than 150 global aviation and airline customers through its MRO business, specializing in high-skill work such as engines, components, avionics, airframe and line maintenance.

Since 2015, Delta TechOps has been an authorized maintenance center for Rolls-Royce engines, providing engine services for Trent XWB, Trent 1000, and Trent 7000, in addition to the already added BR715.

In April 2018, Pratt & Whitney selected Delta TechOps to become a major MRO provider for the next-generation Pure Power PW1100G and PW1500G engines, the power plant for Delta’s A321neo and A220 fleets. http://www.deltatechops.com

UTC Aerospace Systems agrees to overhaul Wizz Air thrust reversers

UTC Aerospace Systems has a 5-year agreement with Central and Eastern Europe low-cost airline Wizz Air to provide thrust reverser overhaul services for the airline’s fleet of Airbus A320ceo aircraft. Boeing enhances Integrated Material Solution capability

To meet airline customers’ growing supply chain requirements for tailored, flexible parts and logistics solutions, Boeing is expanding its Integrated Material Solution (IMS) parts program.

IMS streamlines a customer’s supply chain by combining multiple services from Boeing’s parts solutions portfolio into one. It provides demand planning for consumables, expendables, and customer-furnished equipment with rotable parts management. Honeywell expands engineering, testing services

Honeywell is opening its internal engineering and product testing services to global commercial and military aerospace equipment manufacturers. Regional customers will benefit from Honeywell’s expertise in mechanical, propulsion, and avionics engineering, as well as test services at 24 global locations.

Working with Honeywell Engineering Services and Honeywell Testing Services allows manufacturers and suppliers to improve their product development processes while controlling costs.

BBA Aviation subsidiary Ontic has appointed AAR as its authorized inventory management partner and exclusive distributor in support of Ontic UK’s military maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) business.
