Custom flexible shafts

Ethernet connector series; Removable vertical launch connectors; Rotary encoders with blue emitter LEDs; Single-output power supplies; Machining software with menu-driven interface.

Flexible shafts transmit rotary motion like a solid shaft but can be routed over, under, and around obstacles where a solid shaft cannot. Flexible shafts are used in thrust reverser actuation systems (TRAS), flap and slat systems, variable bleed valves, jet afterburner nozzle control systems, and cargo door actuation systems.

A key flexible shaft application is when valves require manual activation if the automatic system fails. Any number of valves may be manually actuated using a flexible shaft assembly, such as air turbine starter (ATS) and anti-ice valves, and controlling valves if the automated system fails, allowing the aircraft to be safely dispatched on time.

Ethernet connector series

As an Ethernet solution packed into a MIL-DTL-38999 Series III derived shell, the TVµCom-10Gb+ connector series meets the requirements of miniaturization, high speed, and robustness in harsh environments.

The TVµCom-10Gb+ combines the 10Gb/s Ethernet speed of the classic µCom-10Gb+ with the 38999 series III shell.

TVµCom-10Gb+ exceeds 10Gb/s according to the IEEE 802.3an-2006, 10GBase-T standard, and the 38999 series III size 11 shell provides environmental resistance.

A reduced flange version is also available for Jam Nut receptacles to minimize the panel footprint.

This Ethernet Cat.6A connector is suitable for high definition, high-speed video; uncompressed real-time video (over IP); 10Gb/s Ethernet switches; and high-speed mobile terminals for satellite reception stations and radios.

Removable vertical launch connectors

The 12 series of solderless vertical launch connectors, suitable for high-speed computing, networking, and telecommunications applications, deliver maximum operating frequency of up to 50GHz and VSWR as low as 1.3:1. Offered in male and female versions, covering 2.4mm, 2.92mm, and SMA interfaces, the removable vertical launch connectors feature a reusable clamp attachment and can be used for microstrip or stripline. All models provide solderless installation. Uses include signal integrity measurements, multi-channel tests, semiconductor verification boards, high-speed backplanes, and Serializer/Deserializer (SerDes) applications.

Rotary encoders with blue emitter LEDs

ENI58IL rotary encoders with BlueBeam technology offer precision for rotational speeds of up to 12,000rpm, and when used in conjunction with a powerful sensing chip, efficient use of light is possible.

With high-frequency sampling less prone to interference, BlueBeam technology keeps signals stable when exposed to shock and vibration. During production of ENI58IL rotary encoders, precise disk insertion is verified on a microscopic level, improving absolute accuracy for applications in which small deviations cause noticeable performance loss.

Interlocked bearings withstand high loads and protect the ball bearing. EMC circuit protection prevents electromagnetic interference (EMI) damage.

Various shafts (solid, hollow, recessed hollow), flanges, (clamping, servo, square), and connections (axial and radial, M23 or M12) are available.

Single-output power supplies

QS series single-output power supplies, rated at 600W to 1,200W, have low acoustic noise and PMBus communication with a high current standby voltage.

The standby/signal option can be configured with output inhibit or enable remote on/off, a PMBus interface, and a 5V 0.25A and/or a 5V 2A standby voltage.

Power supplies have 4,000VAC input to output, 1,500VAc input to ground, and 1,500VAC output to ground isolation.

QS5 and QS5H are available with an IEC 320 input connector, replacing the screw terminal block. Operating temperatures are -20°C to 70°C, with output power and output current linearly derating above 50°C to 50% at 70°C.

Machining software with menu-driven interface

NCL 2018 machining software adds programming shortcuts and productivity features that demonstrate each form’s function to speed programming.

Automated and user-controlled tool path generation saves programming time, increases quality, and enables users to quickly produce any part, reduce machine time, improve quality, and increase profits.

Other features include motion interface enhancements controlled by menu-driven commands.

The software includes an advanced product form and waterline roughing – an automated routine for high-volume material removal in multiple levels.
