Grade TP1500, the newest addition to its line of coated grades produced using the Duratomic process, is designed for the highest productivity possible in addition to offering long and reliable tool life at higher speeds and feedrates. TP1500 meets the mechanical and physical demands required for turning steels at very high cutting speeds without sacrificing the toughness needed for reliability. TP1500, in conjunction with the new MR6 chipbreaker, has proven to have longer tool life, increased productivity and lower costs than competitive grades positioned to handle similar applications.
TP1500 was developed using Seco's DurAtomic process, where the crystalline structure is manipulated at the atomic level to produce a very durable coating. This process results in the ability to produce a coating with excellent edge toughness.
TP1500 is offered in a very wide range of insert geometries to cover turning applications from finishing to heavy roughing where productivity and/or long tool life are of major importance. The wide application range of grade TP1500, particularly when combined with the new general purpose MR6 chip groove, is an ideal complement to grade TP2500, the first grade to feature this revolutionary Duratomic coating technology.
