5-axis horizontal machining center

The Spark line of machining centers offers high stock removal rates and accuracy. Thermo-symmetric structures with minimum mobile masses improve tolerances. Rapid traverse of 50m/minute and high cutting speeds of 5,000rpm to 30,000rpm reduce cycle times. Linear axis movement is provided by roller or prismatic guideways.

The centers are engineered to achieve high metal removal rates and aggressive chip-to-chip cycle times when machining steel, stainless steel, aluminum, magnesium, copper, cast iron, titanium, or heat resistant super alloys (HRSA). The Spark line includes the 1300, 1600, 2100, and 2600 models, with rotary table sizes from 630mm x 800mm (25" x 31") to 1,250mm x 1,600mm (49" x 63"). Various spindle heads, tool magazines, and pallet handling systems are available.

Coordinate measuring machine

With intelligent software and powerful hardware, the TomoQuick HV coordinate measuring machine (CMM) with CT sensors offers two operating modes.

In standard mode, the computed tomography system generates high precision measurement data analogous to machines typically used in measurement labs. In high-speed mode, the machine can be used as a fully integrated and automated solution in a production line to inspect components for completeness or cavities. While the machine performs its scan, the system’s WinWerth software reconstructs 3D data in parallel. The software allows several components to be measured with a single scan, with the point clouds of the stacked components automatically separated.

The machine can use either 225kV, 300kV, or 450kV X-ray tubes. The X-ray tubes make it possible to scan large metal parts. With the part changer integrated completely in the measuring machine, many parts can be placed on pallets and checked automatically without operator intervention. No additional safety measures for external robots or for radiation protection during the loading process are needed.

Small-part diaphragm clamping system

The Vero-S SPM-138 diaphragm clamping system clamps evenly around the outside of a part, even if it is not round. The radially aligned clamping slides of the quick-change pallet system pull in and lock the clamping pin. The same module clamps small workpieces having the SPM Plus 138 top plate, as well as pallets, clamping stations, existing fixtures, and tombstones with one or more clamping pins. Workpieces can be transferred from machine to machine or to a CMM.

Hardened stainless steel is used for all the functional components – base body, clamping pin, and clamping slide – increasing life and reliability and reducing maintenance.

The module is sealed and protected against chips, dust, and coolant. Integrated into the standard module is an air purge connection that can also be used for part recognition. The clamping slide position can be monitored via an air purge system. Bottom and lateral air connections allow flexibility in mounting.

Specs

  • Workpiece diameters: 36mm to 125mm
  • Clamping force: up to 50kN
  • Repeat accuracy: 5µm (0.0002")
