5-axis tombstone configuration allows shops to do 5-axis machining wirelessly and add 5-axis capability to existing horizontal equipment. The new platform allows flexibility for pallet pool, cell, or stand-alone applications.
The system uses an address-based platform that works with a transmitter/raeceiver module (TRM) connection. Because each tombstone is defined by its specific address, it makes itself available to the TRM that engages only that tombstone when it enters the machining envelope. An individual TRM can recognize multiple discrete addresses, allowing it to control tombstones as they become available in a pallet-racking system.
The wireless system is powered by easily loaded power cells rated for up to eight hours of machining time. A power management scheme features the ability of shutting off desired drives through G-code programming, which helps maximize machining time overall.
All models offer ±10 arcsecond accuracy, ±5 arcsecond repeatability, Meehanite cast-iron construction, and Raydent anti-corrosion coating. Platters – from one to eight per unit – are independently controlled and programmable at 0.001° (555 segments per degree).
