Connect and monitor legacy equipment
The Freedom Digital Interface (FDI) with integral MTConnect adapter allows shops with legacy equipment to monitor machine tool performance using Freedom eLOG, or other MTConnect monitoring software. Older CNC or manual machines that do not have Ethernet ports can be monitored with the small, self-contained, DIN rail-mounted assembly. The FDI makes a machine or asset MTConnect-capable without special programming, ladder logic, or part program modifications.
The FDI uses of off-the-shelf components and has eight digital inputs (24VDC or 120VAC) and two analog inputs (0VDC to 10VDC). Each input is user-configurable. An onboard adapter outputs a simple hierarchical data representation (SHDR) signal to the user’s MTConnect agent.
Freedom eLOG software automatically extracts manufacturing data to produce web-based reports and analytics on asset utilization, availability, performance, quality, and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE). It is brand, asset, and process agnostic. The software integrates with enterprise resource planning (ERP), manufacturing execution systems (MES), maintenance and quality business systems, and it can be accessed anytime via smartphone or tablet.
At-a-glance
The Freedom eLOG asset monitoring system collects and analyzes manufacturing data in real time. Live data can be accessed 24/7 via any web browser – from a smart phone to a desktop computer. The software links machines on the shop floor to provide configurable reports on everything from individual machine performance to total production activity. Access to data allows optimizing processes to create an efficient system with high-quality, profitable output. The software identifies bottlenecks and inefficiencies, streamlines processes, and improves operational efficiency and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
Asset monitoring
Freedom eLOG will integrate with any industrial asset – including proprietary, PC-based, PLC-based, legacy, and even antiquated relay-logic or manual machines. The system generates reports for individual machines, cells, or overall plant performance and can issue text or email alerts on:

High-speed spindle for range of materials
The HF 120.4 high-speed spindle, for Haas and other machining centers, delivers up to 42,000rpm and 16kW, and is equipped for HSK40 and BT30 tooling. The HF 120 can be used in hardened steels, aluminum, brass, copper, graphite, and various plastics. This high-speed spindle can be installed into new and existing Haas 40-taper vertical and horizontal machining centers and offers full ATC integration for HSK or BT tooling. Standard options include oil-mist bearing lubrication, grease-packed bearing lubrication, 1,000psi coolant thru the spindle, tapping, and orientation. The installation package requires no permanent modification of machine. The spindles are applicable to all Haas vertical and horizontal machining centers with 40 taper tooling. Larger spindles are available for Haas machines using 50 taper tooling.

High speed machining for large workpieces
The HGM-2500 High Rail Gantry 5-axis Profiler is the latest in the HGM series. It features a redesigned 100hp, 20,000rpm spindle, providing stable, high-accuracy machining of various large-sized components.
With a distance between columns of 3,800mm (150"), the HGM-2500 still requires less space than comparable table-type machines.
The HGM has rapid feed rates of 60mpm on the X- and Y-axis, 30mpm on the Z-axis, and 7,200°/min on the B- and C-axis, boosting productivity by minimizing cycle time. The machine’s construction employs highly rigid bridge-type construction, using a gantry that travels on fixed side rails for enhanced stability, greater accuracy, and easier workpiece maneuverability.
Other features include a FANUC 31i Model B5 CNC system with SNK’s DCS-V Aero Edition software package, ATC tool storage capacity, chip conveyor, splash guard, and roof cover.
