5-axis machining and automation

G350, G550, G550T, and the G750 extend lineup with a design for integrated production automation.

The G-series universal horizontal machining centers, available in three sizes, originate from the same modular construction system and are characterized by their compact design and excellent visibility and accessibility to work areas.

The general structure of the universal machining centers is similar to that of other G-models, with the X- and Z-axis located on the tool side, and the Y- and A/B-axis overhanging the workpiece.

The G350, smallest machine in the line, requires less floor space than other machines with the same work zone. An original spindle design accommodates tools up to 365mm (14.3") in length with no interference, even with the largest workpiece size. The maximum part is a 600mm (23.6") cylinder with 500mm height (19.7").

Mid-size G550 and G550T models have the option for turning parts up to 900mm (35.4") in cylinder. The high-speed table rotates at 800rpm while compensating for uneven loads. Maximum part height is 730mm (28.7") and longest tool length is 500mm (19.6"). Both models feature the company-designed-and-built table with 225° of rotation in the A-axis, and continuous 360° in the B-axis. It is possible to completely invert the table for upside-down machining so chips simply fall away from the part.

On the G750, three linear and two rotary axes allow for 5-sided and 5-axis machining as well as a simultaneous interpolation. The machine offers a swivel range of 240° in the A-axis and a high dynamic range up to an axis speed of 75m/min and an acceleration of 9.5m/s². Tool changing takes place completely out of the working area. Maximum part size is a 1,280mm cylinder with a height of 1,005mm. Positioning accuracy (ISO 230-2) for all of the new G-series is 0.006mm in the X-, Y-, and Z-axis, with repeat positioning precision of <0.003mm.

On all models, a chiller unit maintains optimal temperature in the motorized spindle, electrical cabinet, A/B-axis drive, Z-axis drive, and coolant system.

Automatic pallet-changing options and an additional tool magazine allow for automated production.
