To be able to serve the smaller parts market in the future, Handtmann now offers the HBZ CompactCell, a 5-axis horizontal machining center. The machine is optimally adapted for workpieces up to 2m x 1m that justifies a horizontal machining center. The use of powerful high-frequency spindles with powers up to 75kW, and speeds up to 30,000rpm, as well as high travel speeds and high accelerations ensure the required high removal rates.
The key factor of the HBZ CompactCell is the compact machine design. The machine can be optimally accessible for the operator from all sides and is ergonomically designed. Easy loading and unloading in the horizontal position, directly in front of the machine, is possible. A big glass door directly next to the control panel allows a safe view of the machining process.
Automated Solutions
Minimizing expensive down times is a very important aspect for economical machining. To meet this requirement, the HBZ CompactCell offers optimal and numerous possibilities to do the setup parallel to the machining process by automating the loading and unloading process. According to the customers needs, Handtmann equips the machine with an option of palette changing systems – loading via crane, via rail system, or via pallet storage with a handling portal.
In the standard version, the HBZ CompactCell is equipped with one pallet that is positioned directly in front of the machine. Beyond this, the system can be extended initially, or later as an upgrade.
Applications
The compact design of the HBZ CompactCell, combined with an optimal price performance ratio, enables the machine to cover a wide range of applications. Workpieces up to 2m x 1m, that require high chip removal rates and high power, are perfectly suited for the HBZ CompactCell. Materials from plastics to aluminium and up to steel are possible, whether it is a 3-axis or a 5-axis requirement. This HBZ CompactCell horizontal machining Center targets general metal machining, automotive, aerospace, mold and die making, and the solar industry.
