Christian Scherer is to become Airbus Commercial Aircraft business CEO, reporting to Airbus CEO Guillaume Faury. The leadership roles of Airbus and its Commercial Aircraft business, combined since 2019, will now be split.
“Empowering Christian in the Commercial Aircraft CEO role will enable us to reinforce focus on the success of our commercial aircraft business while allowing me to dedicate my time to steering Airbus in a complex and fast-evolving global environment,” Faury says. “Christian and I have been working hand in hand over the last five years and we will continue to do so in this new configuration.”
Scherer has been chief commercial officer since 2018 and currently is head of Airbus Int’l. He joined Airbus in 1984 as a commercial contracts manager and served as vice president of contracts for Airbus North America from 1987 to 1994.
