Teledyne Controls, GE Aviation to use Predix data, analytics
Teledyne Controls and GE Aviation have partnered to use GE’s Predix cloud-based platform for continuous data analytics on engine health monitoring collected by Teledyne’s wireless data acquisition and management technology. The partnership simplifies the flow of commercial aircraft flight data to GE’s Predix platform and enriches the data with speeds and scale enabled by industrial Internet technologies.
Teledyne Controls’ systems are installed on more than 50% of current-generation Boeing aircraft and 70% of all Airbus aircraft operating in commercial aviation.
Engine health monitoring has been limited to only a few hundred bytes of data sent from the aircraft via Aircraft Communications Addressing and Reporting System (ACARS). Teledyne’s GroundLink technology leverages higher bandwidth on cellular wireless networks, delivering several megabytes per flight hour of continuous data for engine analytics. www.teledynecontrols.com; www.geaviation.com/digital
