Aernnova has recently completed the acquisition of Structural Integrity Engineering (SIE), an aircraft engineering company headquartered in Chatsworth, California, with regional offices in Seattle, Washington and Madrid, Spain.
With this acquisition, Aernnova reinforces its growth strategy in North America and adds engineering and certification expertise that complements its aeronautical engineering division.
Iñaki López Gandásegui, chairman & CEO of Aernnova, said, “SIE's reputation for the highest quality FAA certification expertise, structural design & engineering, analysis, and systems integration skills will fit well in our North American growth plans.”
Dr. Matt Creager, who will continue as SIE’s president, said, “We are honored to have secured the confidence of Aernnova’s management based on SIE’s strong reputation for engineering in structures and systems integration and our track record in delivering quality for our customers.”
SIE was formed in 1981 to provide design engineering, analysis, certification, and program management services to the aviation industry. SIE’s experience includes aircraft structures, mechanical systems, electrical systems, aircraft interiors, program management for major aircraft modifications, and development of a wide range of supplemental type certificates (STCs).
Some of the projects developed by SIE over the past 37 years include STCs to convert passenger airplanes into freighters (B757, A320, etc.), modifications and pylons for flying engine test bed aircraft, the ORBIS Flying Eye Hospital, satcom antenna (Ku-Band/Ka-Band) installations, and engineering analysis for structural life extensions. SIE has worked with numerous large and small aerospace customers including OEMs (GE Aviation, Goodrich, Gulfstream, Honeywell, Pratt & Whitney, Safran, etc.), airplane operators (Air China, Aerojet, Cargojet, FedEx, Frontier, Jet Blue, Norwegian, Southwest, United, Icelandair, …) and government agencies (FAA, EASA, CAAC, NASA, JPL, USAF, US Navy, …). SIE has also developed its own STCs for licensing to others.
Aernnova is a Tier 1 aerospace company specialized in the design & build of aeronautical structures and their components such as empennages, wings and fuselage sections; covering preliminary & detail design, development, testing, prototypes, certification, serial production, and aftermarket support.
With more than 4,700 employees and a global footprint including operations in Spain, USA, Mexico, and Brazil, Aernnova works with world-class aerospace customers such as Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier, Embraer, Northrop Grumman, GE Aviation, Sikorsky, Bell Helicopters, and Space X, among others.
