The H-Carb 7-flute high efficiency end mill series has been expanded with more than 400 new coolant-through options.
Available in various lengths of cut, the H-Carb Series 77 coolant-through end mills specialize in deep axial trochoidal and high-speed machining applications. Coolant-through varieties offer better wear, surface finish, and chip evacuation when pocketing or slotting. The series’ specially designed core and flute design improve rigidity and chip flow while reducing deflection. The 7-flute design allows for superior finishes at higher speed and feed rates versus 5- and 6-flute tools.

Ceramic-bridge CMM
The ALTERA C HA, a higher-accuracy version of the ALTERA C coordinate measuring machine (CMM), offers reduced measurement uncertainty when inspecting tight tolerance parts.
The HA (high accuracy) ceramic-bridge machines are constructed from the same component parts as the standard ALTERA C range but are optimized to deliver 16% higher volumetric accuracy, 13% better repeatability, and 50% more accurate tactile scanning. Volumetric accuracy is from 1.3+L/350, repeatability from 0.0013mm, and scanning accuracy from 0.002mm.
ALTERA C HA is available in the same model sizes as ALTERA C, with integrated or freestanding controller, and passive or active anti-vibration mounts. Tactile probing is provided by the Renishaw PH10M or PH10T probe head, and TP200 touch probe and/or SP25M scanning probe, or laser scanning are also available. Due to increased dynamic forces when measuring on the fly, the new design helps in using a scanning probe.
The pre-loaded, wrap-around air bearing configuration runs with a reduced air film thickness for low energy consumption and gives repeatable measurement results, even at fast axis speeds. Friction drives provide smooth motion together with exact positioning at continuously varying speeds, as well as zero backlash and overload protection.
Collet adapter for grinding
The GDS µGrind collet adaptor, designed for consistent accuracy and improved productivity in ANCA grinding machines, is now available from ANCA’s distribution network.
German manufacturer of high-quality precision accessories for grinding and machining processes, GDS, customized the µGrind to the requirements of ANCA FX, MX, and TX machine platforms as well as robot loaders.
The µGrind comes in standard (92mm) and long-nose (122mm) form factors to suit numerous applications.
Benefits of the µGrind workholding:
- Time saving: consistent 2µm runout provides consistency across large batches and collet changes.
- Fast setup: it only takes minutes to get the µGrind ready for grinding; readjustment between collet changes isn’t needed. Concentricity and wobble adjustments are easily performed.
- Flexible: a suite of compatible collets with two form factors for various applications is available.
A test performed using a large batch of 6mm tools where runout was measured before and after grinding at 2.5xD and 10xD showed with thousands of clamping and diameter changes, the runout remained virtually unchanged.
